Wilfred Thomason Grenfell lived from 1865-1940. He was a missionary doctor to the fridged landscape of Newfoundland. He used a dog sled team both for his doctoring and to deliver food and supplies, to the secluded people. (I haven’t read it yet so I don’t know much more.)
